Alcoholism

Alcoholism is a condition where a person becomes addicted to alcohol. It cannot be normal without the intake of alcohol. Like many other medical disorders alcoholism is a treatable one. If it is left untreated then it may cause serious health issues and may also be life threatening. There are many rehabilitation centers established to treat the alcoholics and help them to lead a normal life. Medications are given to the addicted persons to treat their infected organs and then to prevent them from the addiction. Certain medicines have the capacity to create an aversion towards alcoholism. They are used in rehabilitation process. In addition to medications, meditation and counseling are given as a psychological treatment to the patient.

Alcohol is very effective and when it is ingested it causes serious damages to the internal organs like lungs, liver and kidney. Medications used in the treatment are able to eliminate the chemicals and the effects caused by them. This also prevents the alcoholics from drinking. Chemotherapy for detoxification and psychotherapy for preventing into re-addiction are the possible effective treatment for alcoholism.
