When certain foreign substances enter into our body it is followed by the action of the defense system of the body that is the immune system and produces certain reactions which is termed as allergy. Allergy is also known as the exaggerated action of the immune system because the substances causing allergy do not have any affect in the normal non-allergic people. But when these particles enter into allergic people then the immune system is turned on. The particles or a substance responsible for producing energy is known as allergens. Some of the common allergens found anywhere is the pollens, dust and mite and some type of foods.
Genes and environment are considered as the basic reason for allergy. When the immune system reacts to a false alarm then it leads to allergy. The most common symptoms of allergy are a running nose, itching, sneezing, rashes on the skin, swelling, wheezing and asthma. But these symptoms vary with people. Although allergies are disturbing they are not much life threatening, one of the allergies called anaphylaxis is a life threatening one.
