Fibromyalgia means pain in fibrous tissue. It is the inflammation of the connective tissues or fibrous of the body which produces widespread muscle pain, headaches, loss of memory and concentration, makes you tired, so that it disturbs your sleep and you would feel pain from head to toe. Some of the tender parts like neck, arms and legs, shoulders, back and hips feel more pain even when touched gently. The exact source or the causative agent for fibromyalgia is not yet known but it is more characterized in middle aged women and it has no age limit even children are affected by this. Those who are suffering with rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases are having more chances of developing fibromyalgia.
It only affects the muscles but not the internal organs. Diagnosis of fibromyalgia is quite difficult and most of the time false positive results are produced due to the generalized symptoms. Diagnostic process are further complicated with similar diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and spinal arthritis. As there are no specific test to diagnose fibromyalgia it becomes trouble to isolate and treat the disease. Though there is no medicine available deep sleep and exercise could help to reduce the symptoms.
